Appreciate the beauty of nature as you walk among towering trees and lush canopies in Sedim at the Gunung lnas Forest Reserve. Observant visitors may see birds, butterflies, hornbills and gibbons during the walk that begins at an elevation of 5,100mm above forest levels. The highest at 50m above ground. Below the walkway is the fast-flowing Sediam River, a popular spot for for white-water rafting.
- SULTAN ABDUL HALIM GALLERY Alor Setar
The Sultan Abdul Halim Gallery is housed in the 87 years old, former Alor Setar high court. It features over 2,000 item from the personal collection of the Sultan of Kedah. On display are official documents, palace attire and accessories as well as charts depicting the 1,200-year lineage of the Kedah royal family beginning from 1136 to the present. After visting this gallery, you can walk to nearby attractions like the Balai Nobat, Balai Besar, Masjid Zahir, Balai Seni Negeri, Pekan Rabu, Rumah Merdeka and the Alor Setal Tower.
- ALOR SETAR TOWER Alor Setar
A prominent landmark in the city, Alor Setar Tower soars above the city skyline at a height of 165.5m. This state-of-the-art communications tower is the 19th tallest in the world, and the second highest in Malysia after the Kuala Lumpur Tower. From afar, the design resembles a huge bunch of paddy stalks that are tied together.
The Paddy Museum is situated at the foothills of Gunung Keriang. The only one of its kind in the country, it resembles of harvested rice stalks and has an interesting collection of paddy-related exhibits-from the tools that are used, to information on cultivation and harvesting as well as legends and taboos.
- GUNNUNG KERIANG CAVES Kota Setar
The Gunnung Keriang Caves-Gua Terus,Gua Pelamin, Gua Seribu Bayur plus several unnamed ones feature attactive limestone formations that will appeal to cavers. The caves are about 8 km from Alor Setat.
- ULU LEGONG HOT SPRINGS Baling
The Ulu Legong natural hot springs offer pools with temperatures ranging from 38*c-49*c. Although it is open during the day, the cooler temperatures at night make it the best time for a visit. |
